It's not just about percentages, though. Even if a higher percentage of free apps in the Android pool, Apple probably has more free apps by just numbers, because they have such a freakishly massive pool of apps available.

That said... screw smartphones, I have a regular phone and an iPod Touch and that does well enough for me.

Of course they are! They insist on making OSX drivers themselves and they got away with half-assing it because they just needed the cards to handle the simple OSX desktop effects. Now people are figuring out how shitty they are when they try to run a 3 year old source game.

I've got an iPhone and will likely end up getting an iPhone 4 at some point... I've had Windows OS phones and they were pretty shitty. Never tried Android/Google but my husband did and he said it was ok. The problem comes down to the developers and which side they support more. Android is catching up on the app side but they have a little ways to go. Are the Android phones better hardware-wise? Yeah. Fuck yeah they are. And there are some definite improvements in the software side too.

A year and a half ago it was a bit of a different story as far as the application development goes but I think Android is starting to catch up. Apple is being given a run for its money by Google and it is good to see. Competition is healthy.

I like my iPhone (its the only Apple product I own, aside from old iPods floating around my house) and I don't really like AT&T. It will be interesting to see how many people jump ship to Verizon when they release their version of the iPhone 4.

I loved that video Redwing - I posted it on my FB the minute I saw it last week. It is so true of most iPhone users or electronic users of any kind. They're clueless.
